The founding of
East Coast Acappella (fate)
Founding member, musical
director, and band leader of Avenue X (1996 - 2006) Mike Kelble, along
with Tom White (Avenue X) had been searching for just the right
combination of vocalists/personalities to assemble a new
performance oriented vocal group since their departure from Avenue X in
2006. After two years, fate decided to step in and East Coast Acappella
was formed with the perfect combination of vocals and personalities
in an amazing three weeks.
In June of 2009, as Mike was
walking down the street at a classic car show, he stumbled onto Jack Pearson. Jack and Mike
had performed together for approximately seven years in a local group
called the "Formation" and had not seen each other in about twenty years.
As they caught up on "life" the conversation (of course) turned to
music. As it turned out, Jack had been seeking a vocal group as well. .
. . we now had three.
The following week, as Tom
White was getting his car washed, he ran into another old mutual friend
and musician from the past . . Tom Lombardo, from the "Techniques." As you
would expect, conversation turned to music, and the mention of a
new vocal group. Mike followed up a few times with Tom L, and . . . . . we had four
members, with similar backgrounds known to each other, and similar
interests going forward.
We now had almost a complete
group of talent, aligned with Mike's vision in this very short span of
time.
Several phone calls,
advertisements, and a few short days turned up another musician / singer
friend from our past, Rick Walsh. Rick had also performed many of the
same venues and crossed musical paths with each of our current members.
You may remember Rick as founder and band leader for the very successful
group "Majic," performing at many regional and national events and
functions for the past 20 years.
East Coast Acappella was born .
. . . . . . we hope you enjoy the magic of our five talented performers
and our music, along with our history. . .
ECA Evolution . . .
.
After twenty one months of
growing successes, we encountered the need for a change due to
circumstances beyond our control in May of 2011. Sadly, it had become
necessary to say goodbye to our friend Tom Lombardo and wish him best in
his future endeavors. Enter our newest member, Mr Ed Barker, bringing an
exciting new dimension to our group having performed on various stages
throughout the world, not only as a vocalist - but percussionist,
keyboardist, producer, and has played various roles in a large number of
musical theatre productions as well. Welcome Ed!
May 2011 brought some other
exciting news for our group as well. Our dear friend Mr Pete Gardner
(one of the founding members of Avenue X along with Mike) has
returned to the music scene after taking some time away. You may see
Pete on occasion with East Coast Acappella as a sixth member,, or
occasionally filling in as opportunities arise. Welcome back Pete!
Again, we hope you continue to
enjoy the magic of our talented performers, along with our continued
history . . . . . . . |
